After exploring the pier I walked to end of the peninsula to take in the view. I became fascinated with the trees planted in a row. Beyond the trees another peninsula curved around creating the sheltered area for the boat launch. There were some people fishing there too.
On a whim I decided to visit the Bonnabel Boat Launch. I’ve lived in Metairie for a while now, but I hadn’t driven past the levee to see what was on the other side. As it turned out, there was a lot more there than the boat launch. I should have brought my hat.
A new PJ's Coffee of New Orleans opened on Veterans Boulevard near my house. There used to be Texaco station there. A friend was in town and we met up with another friend there.
A couple of weeks ago I met up with some friends from high school at the new location of Sid-Mar’s Restaurant and Bar at 3322 North Turnbull Drive, just off of Veterans Boulevard in Metairie. Before Hurricane Katrina Sid-Mar’s was located in Bucktown. My friends were big fans of the place, so I thought I'd check it out. Needless to say, we pigged out on seafood appetizers and sandwiches. Here are some photos from our fun afternoon.
Here are some outside shots of Sid-Mar’s to help folks know what they are looking for as they drive on Veterans Boulevard. I drive back and forth on Veterans on a regular basis and I didn’t realize it was there.
The fourth parade that Friday was the Krewe of Muses. This year Muses provided men with a “Guide to Love and Romance.” Each float was dedicated to a specific instruction. My camera battery was running low, but I managed to photograph most of the floats in the parade. Muses is one of the more unusual parades during the season. A cake float, with fireworks, marked the krewe's 10th anniversary.
