From the fountain I strolled over to the lagoon to capture a view of the Peristyle. It is a columned structure on the other side of the lagoon. I also took photos of the lagoon with reflections of the sky.
The sign on the front of this fountain says “Patrick J. Butler Memorial (1934 – 1992). I photographed the fountain from many angles. Before I left the area, a dog decided to jump in the fountain. Later on, when I looped back near the fountain, some young guys were lounging around it.
Recently I made another trip to New Orleans City Park to take some photos. This time I followed the lagoon and paths that run parallel to it. Sometimes the paths cross one another. There are many large oak trees along the way. I began my journey from City Park Avenue.
A dying pine tree was cut down this summer. The concern was taking action before a tropical storm or hurricane caused it to fall on a house. Pine becomes brittle when a tree dies. So, it would be harder to cut down when the whole tree is dead.
