Open Studios Night

A few Saturdays back, Louisiana ArtWorks had an Open Studios Night. The public was invited to visit the artists-in-residence at the facility. The studios are grouped in areas on the second and third floors of the building. There was an open bar on the ground floor and a dj on the second floor. The printmaking studio was open to visitors as well.

Fine Art vs. Craft Panel Discussion at Louisiana ArtWorks

On April 15th I attended a panel discussion on “Defining Fine Art vs. Craft” at Louisiana ArtWorks. I took this shot before leaving. Prior to the panel, I took some photos of the building.

Here are two shots of the corner building, upstairs and then downstairs. They are from the old part of the building. There’s still work to be done in these two spaces.

The original plan was for Louisiana ArtWorks was to tear down the buildings at this location. But then some local preservationists realized that the building at this corner was worth saving. You see the façade was covered up with some screens that obscured its beauty. The yellowish brick is the original building. The new additions are red brick.

Previously I posted pictures of the interior of ArtWorks. But now that we’re back to Daylights Saving Time, I was able to take some exterior evening shots of the building. There building still has plenty to be done, but the progress of its completion is interesting.

A Recent Visit to Louisiana ArtWorks

Recently I attended a discussion panel at Louisiana ArtWorks. Although the building is not entirely complete, those in attendance had a chance to be excited about what is to come when the facility is in full operation. The building eventually will house individual and group artist studios. There will be regular exhibits and a gift shop as well. Anyway, here are some photos from my recent visit there.
