Here are some photos of Mardi Gras Day costumes. Costumes vary from the very elaborate to the silly to the satirical. There even was a group wearing "BP Oil Spill" costumes.

Mardi Gras Day Costumes

On Mardi Gras Day many of the locals wear costumes to walk the parade route. Some people wear individual costumes. Others have group costumes. Those who wear great costumes can expect to be stopped to for picture taking. Here are some photos I took that day.

"Zeus Conquers Egypt"

The Krewe of Zeus parade finally arrived Monday night. A fire engine led the way followed by motorcycles and dune buggies. The theme was “Zeus Conquers Egypt.”

Captain, King

The location of the front of Zeus was marked by rotating lights in the sky. The captain and lieutenants followed them. The king was preceded by a color guard and servicemen marching.

Queen, Horses

The queen soon passed. She was followed by several costumed-people on horses. Parish President John Young also rode a horse.

The Court, Boudreaux and Clotilde

Several maids with large plumed head dresses passed by me. The Zephyrs team mascots Boudreaux and Clotilde, had their own float. A stepper group performed as it passed.

Rich Colors

The floats in this parade were painted with rich colors. They were well illuminated too. I was so busy shooting photos I didn't worry about
catching beads.
