Sue Colmenares Tatting Demonstration

At ARTinA’s (Art in Algiers) September meeting, Sue Colmenares made a presentation on the art of tatting. First she discussed the tatting process while showing design diagrams from a book. Afterwards, she proceeded to work on a piece. She went on to talk about her large assortment of her works. Some were framed and others were sealed in plastic bags.

Next to Debbie Dufrene was David Wargo with his local paintings and prints and Catharine Jones with her abstracts paintings and soft sculptures. Here’s a shot looking back the other way. There was a steady trickle of people throughout the day.

Algiers Point Association Home Tour

On October 19, last fall, I participated in an outdoor show at Mount Olivet Epicsopal Church in Algiers Point. It was the weekend of the Algiers Point Association Home Tour and the church sold food and drink during. This year we hung on the outside fence. Here are some shots of ticket table for the tour and the food tent.

APA Home Tour

Each October the APA (Algiers Point Association) organizes a home tour in Algiers Point located across from the Mississippi River from the French Quarter. On Saturday, October 13, the tour began at Mt. Olivet Episcopal Church. Participants purchased tickets and then walked to each location on the tour in Algiers Point. On Sunday the tour began at the Lutheran Church in the Algiers Point.

The recently renovated Mt. Olivet Episcopal Church had a tour guide who made a brief presentation and answered questions. She discussed the age of the church and changes that happened over the years. There was a steady trickle of people all day long.

Pasta Anyone?

Mt. Olivet Episcopal Church offered chicken or shrimp pasta for people who were taking the "APA Home Tour". The pasta came with salad. There were also a variety of desserts and other baked goodies to choose. A table and chairs were set aside for those who wanted to sit and eat.
