Jammin' Jazz

Madeleine Faust's purple painted welded metal sculpture, "Jammin' Jazz," is an abstract depiction of jazz music. The artist describes its abstract shapes in terms of musical notes and purple sugar from MacKenzie's Mardi Gras King Cakes. I photographed the piece from many different angles.

From the East

Having toured the space around the sculpture, I made my way back. Again I enjoyed some shade as I took more photos. Soon I was back where I started.

Doubling Back

There are some nice shady spots along the way. Once I reached the turn lane, I doubled back to the sculpture. Then I went to the other end of the space.

Approaching from the West

Another sculpture was placed on the median on Veterans Boulevard in Metairie. This one was placed near Phosphor Avenue on Veterans Boulevard. Like before, I walked around and took photos of the newly landscaped space.

Taking Flight

Nathan Logsdon’s maintenance-free-steel sculpture, “Taking Flight,” was inspired by a Classical Greek interpretation of an acanthus leaf. It sits near the intersection of Brockenbraugh Court and Veterans Boulevard. The rust color is intentional according to the artist.

Circling the Sculpture

Now back at the sculpture I circled around it photographing different points of view. It was difficult to avoid the commercial buildings in the background. I was more interested in capturing the clear blue sky.

The Other Side

Again I traveled to the other end of the space to take photos of the landscaping. I appreciated the shade there too. And having explored the far ends, I returned to the middle where the sculpture sits.
