One Last Look

As I strolled through the crowd, I took a few last photos of the gallery doors along Julia Street. The galleries were still packed with visitors. The party continued.

Party in Full Swing

Soon the party was in full swing as the bars and food booths became crowded. Bands played. Participants visited the various galleries along Julia Street.

As it turned dusk on Julia Street the crowd thickened. Many picked up fans marked "Whitney White Linen Night." Colored lights provided atmosphere as the remaining sunlight disappeared.

The bands were playing, the bars were open and the ticket sellers were in place.
It was barely after 6 p.m. when I arrived on Julia Street for Whitney White Linen Night. This annual event takes place on the first Saturday of August. Participating art galleries are open for promenade of participants wearing white.

Crowded Galleries on Julia Street

As I made my way back to my car, I took photos of the crowded galleries. Julia Street was still full of people even though the block party was winding down. Fortunately the threat of rain had disappeared.

After walking a few more blocks, I doubled back to Camp Street. I visited the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and then crossed the street to see that art at the Contemporary Art Center. I took a few shots of the Absolut Vodka display and bar.

White Linen Promenade

The crowd quickly thickened as I made my way from gallery to gallery. People were enjoying the food and liquor booths along the way. Tables and chairs were set up in the street near them. Eventually I found the big tent with sponsor Whitney Bank. A few other local organizations shared the tent.

Braving Rain at White Linen Night

Threatening dark clouds weren’t enough to keep folks away from White Linen Night on Julia Street, August 7th. Fortunately rain was sparse enough not to put a damper on the gallery festivities. Bands performed at separate stages along the blocked off portions of Julia Street.
