The Irish Channel Corner Club

The Irish Channel Corner Club also marched downtown. This all male club dates back to 1918. Like the Buzzards, the members carry paper flowers.







The Jefferson City Buzzards

The Jefferson City Buzzards is the oldest marching group Mardi Gras Day marching group. The membership is all male. The men hand out emblem dabloons. They also give out flowers in exchange for a kiss.









Waiting for Rex

Mardi Gras Day revelers filled St. Charles Avenue in Uptown New Orleans. While waiting for Rex, people enjoyed seeing group and individual costumes along the parade route.

"Zeus Conquers Egypt"

The Krewe of Zeus parade finally arrived Monday night. A fire engine led the way followed by motorcycles and dune buggies. The theme was “Zeus Conquers Egypt.”















Captain, King

The location of the front of Zeus was marked by rotating lights in the sky. The captain and lieutenants followed them. The king was preceded by a color guard and servicemen marching.















Queen, Horses

The queen soon passed. She was followed by several costumed-people on horses. Parish President John Young also rode a horse.
