Grass Gates

This set of cast iron gates, "Grass Gates," was also designed by Enrique Alférez. I shot this while walking along the outside fence. So there you have a tour of the New Orleans Botanical Garden. Believe it or not there are some areas I missed. They'll have to wait.

Renasence

Here's one more Enrique Alférez sculpture called Renasence. It is set among another section of The Lord & Taylor Rose Garden. This is located right near The Pavillion of the Two Sisters.

To either side of the fountain, there are relief sculptures. On the other side of the same space there are two satyrs. Each one sits atop a pole.

The Shriever Fountain

The Shriever fountain includes another sculpture by artitst Enrique Alférez.

The Lord & Taylor Rose Garden

The last major area I walked through was the Lord & Taylor Rose Garden. There were several fountains and many roses. See the brick walkways that make up this area.

Tropical Garden

Here are some shots from the Tropical Garden that was organized around an arcade. To the left was a fallen oak with a sculpture. It looks like it has been growing in the fallen position a while.

Butterfly Walk

Next I took a stroll through the Butterfly Walk. Although you might not see the butterflies, I can assure that several flew by me while I was taking pictures. They would appear small anyway. Note the butterfly-shaped bench in the garden.

Exiting the Japanese Garden

I was puzzled when I went to choose which way to go into this garden. Well, I decided to enter through the columned doorway and then leave by way of the ramp. This wasn’t a huge garden, but I enjoyed all the details.

The Yakumo Nihon Teien Japanese Garden

The Yakumo Nihon Teien Japanese Garden is an authentic Japanese garden arranged by the Japanese Garden Society of New Orleans. Here are some shots from as I walked through it. It’s a very peaceful space.
