Halloween Party

On Halloween night I attended a party at this house in Metairie. The front lawn was decorated with tombstones and skeletons. Lights flashed in some spots. Fog shrouded the front garden in mystery.

Illuminated Jackolanterns

Jackolanterns illuminated the front sidewalk leading up to the house. The edges of the sidewalk were lined with strings of orange lights. Orange light glowed across the front lawn.

Fog

A little fog is always good for setting a spooky Halloween mood. Periodically a smoke machine would blow smoke toward the entrance of the house. Here are a few shots of the front of the house at its foggiest.

Party Inside

The sign along the front walkway said it all, "Party Inside." A ghost was on the front door. Inside there was a cauldron of small pumpkins. A table was covered with an array of tempting foods.

Desserts and More . . .

Behold items from the dessert table. An ear of corn is actually a jellyroll with candy corn on top. The punch bowl had Bloody Mary in it. Even the bathroom was decorated.

Backyard Ghost

A clapping sound was necessary to set this ghost into action. It would bob up and down. The head would move one way while the arms moved another way. A pink light would turn on as it moved. Orange lights adorned the garden area and arch where the ghost hung.

Caricature Artist

A special guest at this Halloween party was a caricature artist. She was kept busy by drawing the portraits of the partiers. The room remained crowded with folks watching and waiting their turns.

Dressing up for Halloween is not just for kids. Here are some samples of costumes from a recent Halloween party I attended on Halloween night. There were many genres represented.

Annual Halloween Open House

As soon as the trick-or-treaters have finished making the rounds, the neighborhood adults gather for an annual Halloween Open House. This is Halloween New Orleans style with plenty of food and drink! And there’s a whole table devoted to desserts. The adults don their orange and black to celebrate. The traffic jam is usually in the kitchen.
