A Few More Views

Again, I walked around this sculpture to show various angles of the squiggle part. It’s smaller than some of the other works. Still it’s nice addition to an otherwise dull median.

Trace

Moving west on Veterans from the Clearview Parkway intersection is another sculpture on the median called, “Trace.” It was created by artist Alexander Liberman in 1967. Painted bright orange, the piece pops against the blue sky at the Club Drive intersection.

A Few More Anlges

Naturally I walked around the piece to photograph different angles. It’s the best way to appreciate 3-D works. Walking back to my car I was reminded how busy this intersection gets as cars whizzed by me.

Guitar with Jazz Aura

Last year I photographed a sculpture of toucans at the intersection of Clearview Parkway and Veterans Boulevard in Metairie, LA. Since then artist Abby Cantrell’s “Guitar with Jazz Aura” has been added to the median on the other side of Clearview Parkway. Its red color makes it stand out against the green plants near it.

Blue Dog

There is a brick path that begins at the intersection of Veterans and Severan and meanders toward a circle around the "Blue Dog." Having started from the yellow side of the piece, I walked around to the red side and finally the blue side. Across from Lakeside Shopping Center

This week another sculpture was installed on Veterans Boulevard across from Lakeside Shopping Center at Severn Avenue. It’s George Rodrigue’s “Blue Dog” which is made up of three sides including the: “Blue Dog,” “Red Dog” and “Yellow Dog.” So you have to walk around to view each one.

Toucans

Artist Hunt Slonem's aluminum sculpture "Toucans" now brightens an extremely busy suburban intersection at Clearview Parkway and Veterans Boulevard. The toucans are very colorful and fun. I took a closer look to see what exactly I'm driving past at the sculpture.

Across from Clearview Mall

Recently a new sculpture was placed on the median (neutral ground to locals) across from Clearview Mall at the intersection of Clearview Parkway and Veterans Bouleveard. The project is part of a beautification effort in Jefferson Parish. Previously I blogged about two other sculptures installed at the Bonnabel Boulevard intersection.
