A New Board Sworn In

New Board members were called forward for their official induction. Each officer was handed a feather representative a specific bird. When all officers had accepted their positions, the president handed the official dinner bell to the new president. The guild uses a dinner bell instead of a gavel.

Thank You to the Outgoing Officers

On Wednesday, July 27, 2011, members of the Jefferson Art Guild gathered for an Installation Banquet at Smilie's Restaurant located at 5725 Jefferson Highway in Harahan, Louisiana. The president of the guild gave an annual report recalling all the accomplishments from the past year. She then thanked officers and appointed chairs for all their hard work.

The Result of Paint and Pass

This is the canvas I started on at the beginning of the workshop. The other artists worked on it after me. It changed quite a bit along the way.

The Pass and Paint Critique

At the end of the workshop the artists talked about the paintings and how they turned out. I only managed to take photos of the last critique. The artists enjoyed the workshop.

Pass and Paint

Here are the photos from the "Pass and Paint" Workshop sponsored by the Jefferson Art Guild at the Seventh Ward Senior Citizen Center (fondly referred to as "The Pink House." Artists worked 20 minutes at each station in front of a painting. When the time was up, the artists rotated counterclockwise.

The Still Lifes

Here are the three still lifes used for a workshop called "Pass and Paint."
The object of the workshop was for several artists to work on paintings in rotations. Every 20 minutes artists rotated chairs counterclockwise.

My Art at New Beginnings Art Gallery

Friday night was a reception at New Beginnings Art Gallery. The gallery is located on Jefferson Highway just a couple of blocks away from Williams Boulevard. On the right side of the gallery my art hangs. I took a few shots between groups of folks came through that night. It was mostly a trickle.

Christina Coleman

This is the work of artist and gallery owner Christina Coleman. Her work hangs on the left side of the gallery. She is happiest working with bright expressive colors.

An Auseklis Ozols's Critique

Last night Auseklis Ozols conducted a critique at the Metairie Art Guild meeting. Members brought artwork and placed it along the wall. He took the time to discuss each work pointing out problems, strengths and weaknesses. Prior to the critique he prepared members by discussing some terms used in art criticism.
