As Far Out as I Could Go

From here I went out as far as I could. There is work still being done on the landing. Eventually there will be a regular ferry that travels to Audubon Park on the other side of the Mississippi River. Uptown New Orleans (specifically Audubon Park) is located across the river from this landing.

Walking the Landing

Under a shelter there is a plaque dedicating the landing that includes the lyrics for the song “Lazy River” which is the name given to the landing. While I was up this way I took some photos of the levee looking in a westerly direction. Then I began to travel the walkway out toward the river.

Mississippi River Fog

From the top of the levee I took some photos of the Mississippi River covered in a layer of fog. I could see a ship in the distance. The fog grew thick and thin while I explored the landing.

Exploring Lazy River Landing

As I finished loading my car, I noticed fog rolling down the levee. So I grabbed my camera and walked to the Lazy River Landing at the end of Sala Avenue. I climbed the stairs and took photos looking back down at Sala Avenue. Here is a shot from the top of a foggy levee.

Foot of Canal Street

On a recent Friday I drove to the foot of Canal Street, in New Orleans, to catch the ferry that travels back and forth to Algiers Point. When I arrived down there I parked my car and walked to the landing to board the ferry. I took this opportunity to shoot pictures from the ferry. The photos of the journey include pictures of tankers and tugs and the two different ferry landings. Also, I captured various parts of the city skyline. Click on pic folio and video journal to see more from this outing.
