More of the Mississippi River

Going around the curve in the pathway, I finished up the Mississippi River section of the aquarium. Up above was a typical shack with fishing gear. In the distance I could see a sign marking stairs to the Gulf of Mexico exhibit.

Once I was back in the corridor, I entered a new atrium devoted to the Mississippi River. Tanks were placed as if they were below piers among pilings. There was even an albino alligator in one of the tanks.

Back to Poydras Street Wharf

Soon the Creole Queen was circling Algiers Point on the
way back to the Poydras Street Wharf. I took a photo of the French Quarter with sunset behind it. The boat docked as the sunlight faded.

Turnning Back

Eventually the ship turned around and headed back upriver. By this time the sun had begun to set. My photos had a lot more orange in them.

Docked Ships

Several of the ships were docked. Cranes were in the process of unloading. The water reflected images of the ships.

Cruising Downriver

The Creole Queen traveled downriver. Here are some photos I took along the way. We passed several ships, barges and tugboats.

The Stargeezers

While passengers enjoyed the view and their cocktails, the Stargeezers performed on the upper deck of the boat. They played eclectic mix of jazz and rock n roll. Here are some shots of them jamming.

The Other Decks

The second deck is where the silent auction took place. Participants were informed when boards were closed. The last two photos are from the lower deck where attendees enjoyed a buffet of local favorites.
