Christmas Tree

There was a Christmas tree in the Lobby, but it was more understated than in the past. Anyway, I took a couple of shots for the record. OK, I'm moving on to the Carnival Season. It started on January 6th.

Lobby

After dining I snatched some photos of the Lobby and few new pieces of art. I enjoyed seeing what was new. Too bad the gallery wasn't open.

Breezeway

In the space between the outer and inner front doors are two pieces of art. They had replaced the pieces I saw the last time I dined the hotel. I really liked these two.

Lobby Below

While on the second level I took a shot of the two sitting spaces in the hotel lobby. I love the bright colored spirals on the carpet. A skylight provides natural lighting during the day.

Courtyards Continued

The second courtyard had more pieces in it. I stopped to photograph each one. I wondered if someone would peek out from one of the rooms.

Above the lobby were two atrium courtyard spaces. Sculptures are spread among the flower beds. Most of them I've seen there before.

Back to La Côte Brasserie

This past Christmas my family dined at La Côte Brasserie at the Renaissance New Orleans Arts Hotel. It was three years ago since we last celebrated there. I took some photos again since some of the art has changed since that last time. Here are some photos of the restaurant.

Art Show at the J. W. Marriot New Orleans

On Wednesday, November 16, I attended Lynne Cochran's art show at the J.W. Marriot New Orleans located at 614 Canal Street. It was the second art show I've attended in the space. The show was up only for that one night.

One Last Sculpture

Before walking back to my car I spotted this sculpture. It had Tulane Hospitall for Children on it. And it also mentioned some other organizations. Well, anyway, this concludes my Riverfront trip.

Monument to the Immigrant

Next, I followed a path back to the Riverfront walkway. A majestic statue of a muse of hope leaned forward in front of me. “The Monument to the Immigrant” was created by sculptor Franco Alessandrini. The inscription read “dedicated to the courageous men and women who left their homeland seeking freedom, opportunity and a better life in a new country.” It was dedicated on March 19, 1995. And it was commissioned by the Italian American Marching Club.

Ocean Song

Ocean Song is a 16 foot tall kinetic steel sculpture by artist John T. Scott. It stands near a French Quarter entrance to Woldenberg Park. It took several shots from different viewpoints.

Circling the Memorial

Once I reached the sculpture, I made sure to photograph it from each corner. I even took some close up photos along the way. Shadows created by the sun’s angle made some views more difficult.
