Back Where I Started

It wasn’t long before I was back to where I started. I took a side path near a shelter for one last shot. Thus concludes my journey around the Big Lake track.

Water's Edge

Soon I found myself in front of an abstracted arc sculpture. It had an expressive painterly surface - one part red-orange and the other part green. Beyond the art was a curving deck at the edge of the lake.

Fountain in the Lake

Many of my photos of the Big Lake include a fountain sending water high into the air. Walking along the track, I soon came closer to the fountain. There were flower beds filled with irises along the edge of the lake.

WPA Bridge

Eventually I came upon a bridge near the New Orleans Museum of Art. It is marked with the letters “WPA.” They stand for the Workers Progress Administration. It was a New Deal Agency that built roads and bridges during the 30’s.

Ducks

Besides the seagulls, I also encountered ducks. There were small groups of them scattered around this side of the Big Lake. Some were swimming. Others were walking along the edge of the lake.

Seagulls In Flight

Not all the seagulls gathered on the pier. Some remained near the edge of the lake near the pier. Here are the rest of the seagull photos.

Seagulls

Seagulls occupied the right end of the pier. I walked slowly toward them. Groupings of the seagulls took flight above the lake. Eventually most of them were in the air. When I retreated they again settled on the pier.
