Eventually I came to a break in the trail. It simply ended at a levee. So from the top of the levee I took some photos as I turned a full 360. And with that I started back the way I came. To view some close up shots of my journey, visit my other blog pic folio.
Once across the bridge, I noticed two signs. One was for a hiker trail and the other one was for a horseback riding trail. Up until that point the trails were combined
Having reached an intersection of several trails, I chose to follow the NAD Trail that is marked green. I never did find the World War II Magazines on the trail, however. Eventually I wound up at the same intersection of trails.
As I continued my journey, I kept photographing the tall cypress trees reaching for the sky. The sky was beautiful with few clouds. These were taken sometime after 3 p.m.
Blue skies combined with the tall cypress trees made this my favorite part of the green trail. There were plenty of large roots to photograph as well. A few times I had to remind myself to look where I was stepping.
Before I knew it, I had made full circle - hence the “loop.” So this time I chose the green trail, also known as Old NAD Trail. I never did find out what “NAD” is.
