National Art and Hobby

Located in Uptown New Orleans, National Art & Hobby has been around for 76 years. I went there recently to pick up an order of canvases that arrived. Notice the box on the counter. That's my box of 5" x 5" Monet canvases.

Murals on the Side of National Art and Hobby

There are three murals, by different artists, located on the side of National Art and Hobby. It’s much more fun than a solid white exterior.

I've met this artist, Frenchy. He attends live music performances and paints while musicians play. Thus he performs as well. He has a very expressionist style.

Vaudechamp in New Orleans at the Williams Research Center

Tonight was a reception for the upcoming show of "Vaudechamp in New Orleans." Next Wednesday is the official signing of a book (of same name) by Author William Keyse Rudolph. The show consists primarily of New Orleans family portraits painted by Jean-Joseph Vaudechamp (1790 - 1864). Finally, the Historic New Orleans Collection is celebrating the opening of an addition to its Williams Research Center located on Chartres in the French Quarter.
