Pasta Anyone?

Mt. Olivet Episcopal Church offered chicken or shrimp pasta for people who were taking the "APA Home Tour". The pasta came with salad. There were also a variety of desserts and other baked goodies to choose. A table and chairs were set aside for those who wanted to sit and eat.

ARTinA Art Show at Mt. Olivet Episcopal Church

ARTinA (Art in Algiers) began eleven years ago. In the first year the organization held an art festival in conjunction with the Algiers Point Association (APA) Home Tour. The thinking was that the two events would benefit from each other. Since Katrina, ARTinA has had to scale down what it does. For the second time ARTinA held a show at Mt. Olivet Episcopal Church. ARTinA’s artists hung art on both sides of the fence surrounding the church property. Fortunately there was no rain. Last year the show was rained out shortly after it was set up.

Now that I know what area of the churchyard stays shaded, I can plan for it. I didn’t sell anything, but it was a pleasant day Saturday.

Art for Art's Sake on Magazine Street

The biggest night for art in New Orleans is "Art for Art's Sake", the first Saturday in October. The migration is from art galleries on Magazine to art galleries on Julia Street. Then afterwards is the big party at the Contemporary Arts Center. Additional galleries, not on those streets, do participate. Although the crowd was a little light due to LSU Tiger fans being more interested in the game the same night, it was still a fun event.
