Krew of Orpheus on Napoleon Avenue

Orpheus, founded in 1993, is the newest of what we call "super krewes." These krewes have larger splashier floats, larger numbers of members (on floats and total membership) and involve bringing in celebrities for the parades. This krewe was spearheaded by local musician, Harry Connick, Jr., as a big parade to take place the night before Mardi Gras. In particular, musicians are honored in the parade which is the reason for choosing the story of Orpheus as the krewe's name. The krewe's parade includes a varied grouping of entertainers in addition to musicians. It followed Proteus on Monday night.
