When I came upon a rear courtyard with an iron gate, I was sad that it was locked with a chain. The best I could do was take shots through the gate. The space looked so peaceful.
The stairs near the side entrance include shrubbery and flowers. Two urns sit to either side up top and two lions sit to either side below, near the street.
Here are some shots of the side entrance and the relief work on the exterior of the building. Also I've included some shots of sculptures that are placed near the corner.
When I visited the Brooks Museum of Art I saw a Warhol exhibit and Memphis photojournalist photography show. After seeing the art inside, I took these outside shots. I slowly made my way around the exterior of the museum noting decorative details.
The visitors’ parking lot has a pathway leading to entrance of the Brooks Museum of Art. Along it, is a forged steel sculpture called “Memphis Portal II.” This piece was created by artist Albert Paley. To the left of the paved area in front of the museum is Paley’s larger work, “Memphis Portal.”
