The Krewe of Endymion Returns to Mid City

The Krewe of Endymion returned to its neighborhood route on Saturday, Februarty 2, 2008. It is one of the super krewes that parade on the weekend before Mardi Gras. The super krewes are known for their huge floats and large memberships. Blaine Kern, whose artists work on these floats, has been using tiny lights on some larger more spectacular floats. Some of the lights have changing colors. You’ll notice a few examples in the pictures that follow.

Also, the super krewes include famous Hollywood stars and musicians in their parades. This year Kevin Costner was Endymion’s Grand Marshall. The musical acts play for the Endymion Extravaganza which follows the parade. This year’s line-up included: Kevin Costner’s band Modern West,, The Doobie Brothers, The Go-Gos, The Chee Weez, Cowboy Mouth and The Wise Guys. And as you can see large crowds turn out for a super krewe parade. After all it’s the weekend before the big Tuesday, Mardi Gras Day.



When you know someone on a float, you have to make sure that person sees you. Here are some signs to make sure.







The parade barely started and there was a delay. Unfortunately delays are common with the super krewes.
