Krewe of Muses

It’s been a while since I attended the Krewe of Muses parade. I had forgotten how much fun the floats and the throws are. They are among three carnival krewes known for satirical floats. Because the parade was rained out Thursday night a week back, the parade was rescheduled for last Friday. However, it was the fourth parade that night. That meant not getting home until after midnight.

Oh, I should mention that this is an all women's krewe. The walking groups did have men, but the float riders were women. You will notice lots of high heel shoes among the floats and throws. This year there were beads with a high heel medallion with lip-gloss and also a medallion spoofing “Saturday Night Fever” with blinking lights. Yes, disco was theme for the evening. Costumes reflected the era with bright shiny colors.
