Before leaving the Popp Gardens I took a shots of the backside of a building across from the gardens.

Popp Gardens

When I exited the Dinosaur Adventures I explored a space along Magazine Avenue. A fence separates that portion of the zoo from the street. There’s a fountain in the middle of this garden with sculptures to either side. There are benches to either side from the fountain. A plaque names the space.

Michael Varisco

On behalf of the Joan Mitchell Foundation, the Arts Council of New Orleans commissioned Michael Varisco’s “Fragile Land Rotunda.” It is a series of post Katrina photos hanging from the arches that surround the Popp’s Fountain in City Park. It will be through 2010. Back in 1934, the Work’s Progress Administration built this structure.

Willingham Fountain

Right behind the Edward Hall Crump statue is the Wellingham Fountain. It is a hexagon shaped structure with benches surrounding a water fountain. Here are some detailed shots.

Patio at the Crescent City Brewhouse

The French Quarter is known for its patios. In the back of the Crescent City Brewhouse is a patio that includes a fountain.

Spanish Plaza on the Riverfront

One exit from the ferry landing, at the foot of Canal Street in New Orleans, leads to the Spanish Plaza on the Riverfront along the Mississippi River. On the other side of the plaza is the Riverwalk Marketplace. And to the right of the plaza is the World Trade Center.

Spanish Plaza Tiles

In the bicentennial year of 1976 Spanish Plaza was dedicated to honor the friendship between New Orleans and Spain. From 1763 until 1800, New Orleans was under the Spanish flag. The plaza is decorated with family crests on tiles that create a circle around a fountain at the center. In 2001 the plaza was rededicated after it was renovated.
